Just like in old times, when professions were passed from generation to generation; dance and theatre were part of community life as a benefit for all. Families were the centre and their prophets starred in dramatic prophetic theatrical episodes directed by the Creator of the Universe; (King David danced to bring the Ark to Jerusalem, Isaiah walked naked among the people for three years, Hosea married a prostitute, Elijah confronted the 400 prophets of Baal, Moses and the opening of the Red Sea and so many more…). Today, HATIKVAHDANZ claims such a heritage with joy as her strength.

HATIKVAHDANZ works with improvisation, dance, theatre, music, lights and video together with the power of the natural and simple things of daily life, to bring an imaginative, deep and poetic spiritual experience to the audience with the character and the freshness of a kids play.

HATIKVAHDANZ is hope, family, is a prophetic act, made at home, in Israel. It seeks the reconciliation of the soul with its Creator.

Two thousand years of exile and more than five hundred years since we lost most of the Sephardic Jews to the Inquisition in Spain, a new hope awakens for the return of the “marrano” Jews to the bosom of Israel. At the same time, the Creator of the Universe and the circumstance of anti-Semitism are     pressurizing the Jewish people in the gallut to make Alyah immediately. In Zion the heart rending conflict on the essence of the people of Israel in their land. A people that is going through a crisis of faith, trust and identity.

Is there hope to find the light? Is there light available to everyone? Do we need to return and become like little children in order to believe in the        unchanging words of the Creator of the Universe and the principles of the founding fathers of Israel, to find the light and the hope for the future?

Yehi Or! Vayehi Or!

Thanksgivings

Us, the Broquet family, want to give a special thanksgiving to the Bierman family, who have being our tutors and adopted parents here in the land of Israel and who opened their house and heart in an unlimited way to receive and embrace us with the strength of their unique love, faith, and cares. It was the fertile ground in which we could bear this fruit of hope.

We are also deeply thankful to Shlomi and Shuki Hoffman Directors of  the Mechola Dance Company, for opening their dance spaces and enabling us to rehearse and produce, to Orit, for her patience and smiling face at all circumstances, to Yuval Frank for his willing spirit and speedy Hebrew translation, to Natan and Shalom for giving us friendly seats and drinks in their cafe during our breaks, to the kind reception of the personal of the Jerusalem Khan Theatre, to Martin, our light and sound technician and to all our friends in Israel and the nations that have prayed for and encouraged HATIKVAHDANZ to happen.

                                                                                          Toda raba to all.
